The British Empire

They used to say that "the sun never sets on the British Empire." Click on the flag above to see a map that shows what that phrase means. In short Great Britain, at one point, had colonies all over the world, from the Americas to Africa to the Far East. It's hard to believe that as the promotion of democracy was starting to build in England during the 19th and 20th Centuries Great Britain was taking democracy away from other people through colonization. The question you need to answer is why did Great Britain/England need so many colonies? Did they want colonies for the prestige? Was there something that they needed from the colonies?

Great Britian wanted colomies all over the world probably for themselves to have bigger, stronger armies. Also to have more natural resources that they dont have in their own little country. i call this mouching. Britian was mouching off of other colonies for natural resources.
